An exhibition where age-old traditions of Saudi Arabia meet contemporary artistry – this is what Fairmont Hotel Riyadh is currently showcasing in a specially curated exhibition.
The exhibition currently running at The Library, also known as the Library Lounge at Fairmont, shines a spotlight on the country’s rich artisan heritage. It will be on until the end of 2025.
The showcase held in partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Crafts Association supports the “Year of the Handicrafts” initiative by the country’s Ministry of Culture.
A display of Saudi artistry
This exhibition is more than just a display; it's an immersive cultural celebration to honour heritage, sustainability, and community.
The collection invites guests to discover the depth and beauty of Saudi Arabia’s handcraft traditions. You'll find exceptional works from acclaimed local talents such as Wafa Al-Qunaibit, Najla Abdulrahman Al-Muqoushi, Horiah Al-Oqaili, and Mohammed Al-Janbi, among others.
The exhibition also features pieces from Art of Heritage, an organisation dedicated to preserving and reimagining traditional Saudi crafts.
This curated selection of 25 exceptional pieces offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of Saudi artistry, from bold sculptures and hand-thrown pottery to intricately painted ceramic plates and the geometric beauty of Sadu weaving.
Crafted from natural stone, carved wood, and locally sourced materials, these works blend historical techniques with contemporary interpretations.
The exhibition also highlights the indispensable role of Saudi Arabia’s Crafts
Association in empowering artisans across the Kingdom, ensuring Saudi craft traditions continue to flourish.
The partnership was officially launched, recently, with an immersive cultural evening, bringing together dignitaries, artisans, and cultural enthusiasts at the hotel’s lounge space called The Library.
Guests had the opportunity to engage directly with the featured artisans, gaining personal insights into the stories and inspirations behind their handcrafted masterpieces.
Stéphanie Timsit, Director of Operations at Fairmont Hotel Riyadh, said: "This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to showcasing Saudi heritage in a way that is both authentic and engaging. We believe modern hospitality has the power to preserve tradition, elevate local artisans, and create meaningful connections with our community."
