Located in the heartbeat of Al Quoz, Alserkal Avenue is set to light up with creativity this April as they roll out the highly anticipated Alserkal Art Week from April 13-20, 2025. Under the bold theme A Wild Stitch, this year’s programme promises to challenge the norms and spark fresh conversations, with exhibitions, public art, and performances.

Highlights to note:

Imran Qureshi’s Vanishing Points Kick things off with an unforgettable exhibition by artist Imran Qureshi at Concrete. Known for blending Indo-Persian miniature techniques with contemporary multimedia, Qureshi’s works invite you to view the city through a new, miniature lens. Get ready for photography, video, painting, and immersive installations that redefine cityscapes.

Public Art Commissions Don’t miss Shilpa Gupta’s thought-provoking installation, challenging the notion of belonging and urging deeper awareness of our physical and social landscapes. Expect to see new public art commissions curated by Fatoş Üstek across the Avenue under Between a Beach and Slope, featuring Emirati poet Nujoom Alghanem.

Majlis Talks Curated by Stephanie Bailey, Majlis Talks presents Crit Club, a performance project by Cem A. from @freeze_magazine. This live event challenges traditional thinking in the art scene, featuring lively and thought-provoking discussions.

Alserkal Avenue

Over 15 New Gallery Exhibitions This year, Alserkal Avenue hosts new exhibitions exploring themes of resilience, identity, and memory. Efie Gallery will feature María Magdalena Campos-Pons’ I Am Soil. My Tears Are Water, representing critical conversations across South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Guest Projects You Can’t Miss Don’t miss Maydan: A Living Agora, curated by Behrang Samadzadegan at Leila Heller Gallery in collaboration with Dastan Gallery. This exhibition explores the concept of public space, featuring contemporary artists. Also on view is Resonant Turns by Hadieh Shafie at The Mine, a project that transforms language and repetition into fluid, cyclical storytelling.
