Andrew Lloyd Webber’s record-breaking musical CATS, adapted from T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, is set to make its long-awaited Abu Dhabi debut, arriving at Etihad Arena on Yas Island from 14–24 May 2026 for a limited 10-day run.
One of the most celebrated productions in musical theatre history, CATS joins the calendar of major Abu Dhabi events, continuing to captivate audiences around the world with its unique storytelling, iconic score and extraordinary choreography.

The original West End production won both the Olivier Award and Evening Standard Award for Best Musical.
The musical is best known for the unforgettable anthem Memory, alongside a series of instantly recognisable songs that have cemented Andrew Lloyd Webber’s status as one of the most influential composers of all time. A defining feature of the production is its choreography, with each character performing a distinct dance style inspired by ballet, jazz, modern and street dance, giving every Jellicle cat a unique physical identity.
Adapted for audiences of all ages, CATS remains a family-friendly musical and one of the most successful international theatre productions ever staged. The story follows the Jellicle cats on one special night as each makes their case to be chosen to ascend to the “Heaviside Layer” and be reborn, making it a standout for those seeking musicals in Abu Dhabi.

Fakhry Alsarraj, Abu Dhabi Events Bureau Director at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said: “We’re incredibly excited for the debut of Cats in Abu Dhabi next year.
“This beloved musical has connected with people of all ages for decades, and having it come to life on stage at Etihad Arena will be a special moment for audiences here and across the region.
“Bringing world-class entertainment like Cats to Abu Dhabi speaks to our continued commitment to inspire, entertain and bring people together, creating meaningful, family-friendly experiences that both residents and visitors can enjoy.”
