INTERVIEW: Liv East brings London soul to Dubai’s Ginger Moon

INTERVIEW: Liv East brings London soul to Dubai’s Ginger Moon

by Hayley AlexanderPublished: 23/10/2025

Round up the crew! Liv East brings her smooth, soulful energy to brunch this Saturday and next.

W Dubai Mina Seyahi is turning up the London vibe, as singer, songwriter and DJ Liv East takes over Ginger Moon on Saturday 25 October and Saturday 1 November. Known for her silky fusion of soul, house, and R&B, Liv channels the spirit of London’s underground scene with a sound that’s smooth, emotive, and effortlessly cool. As she brings her distinctive sound from London to Dubai’s shores, expect feel-good grooves, warm melodies and that magnetic energy that keeps you dancing long after the sun dips behind the skyline.

Ahead of her Dubai performances, Art in the Middle caught up with Liv to talk inspiration, new music and bringing a taste of London soul to the shores of the UAE.

How did you get into mixing soul, house and R&B together?

Those sounds have always been at the core of what I love; they are my biggest inspirations. I have been naturally drawn to creating my own authentic blend of soul, house and R&B because each one represents a different side of my personality.

What inspires the smooth, emotional feel in your music?

I think my music mirrors who I am, layered and full of hidden depth. On the surface, it can sound silky and effortless, but underneath there’s emotion, stories and a bit of mystery. I want people to feel something that lingers even after the song ends.

Your EP came out last year. How is the new album coming along?

It’s finished, and I’m beyond excited to share it with the world next year. It feels like a natural evolution: more confident, more playful, and filled with warmth and soul.

How does it feel to be bringing your sound from London to Dubai?

It’s incredibly exciting. Playing under the sun and by the pool at Palmera Brunch at Ginger Moon, especially at a place like W Dubai – Mina Seyahi that celebrates music, style, and self-expression, feels like the perfect setting for my sound. There’s something about performing in that golden-hour energy, surrounded by people ready to let loose, that makes it all come alive.

What can people in Dubai expect from your performances here?

It will be a DJ set that leans into my up-tempo, dance-driven side: soulful, house and emotional all at once. Expect to move, to feel and to get lost in the moment as the sun sets over the pool.

Are you hoping to connect with any local artists or creatives while you’re in Dubai?

Oh, definitely. I would love to collaborate with some local percussionists to bring another live dimension to the set. There is a strong creative energy here and it’s always inspiring to see how different artists interpret rhythm and sound.

Can you share a little sneak peek of what your new music might sound like?

It’s funky, sultry and filled with groove and intention. Think vibrant basslines, warm melodies and lyrics that sit somewhere between strength and softness.
